Big splash on Drudge: Kennedy retiring.

Let;s see how the republicans bring out the long knives, fight over one another, attack Trump, refuse to have hearings before November and fuck us over by losing losing the House and/or Senate.

Yeah, I know. The democrats aren’t doing themselves any favors with Pelousy and Mad Maxine but liberals people have no brains and they’ll vote for a caterpillar if told to do so.

Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy announced his retirement Wednesday, giving President Donald Trump the chance to cement conservative control of the high court.

The 81-year-old Kennedy said in a statement he is stepping down after more than 30 years on the court. A Republican appointee, he has held the key vote on such high-profile issues as abortion, affirmative action, gay rights, guns, campaign finance and voting rights.

Kennedy said he has informed his colleagues and Trump of his plans, and that his retirement will take effect at the end of July.

Without him, the court will be split between four liberal justices who were appointed by Democratic presidents and four conservatives who were named by Republicans. Trump’s nominee is likely to give the conservatives a solid majority and will face a Senate process in which Republicans hold the slimmest majority, but Democrats can’t delay confirmation.

Trump’s first high court nominee, Justice Neil Gorsuch, was confirmed in April 2017. If past practice is any indication, Trump will name a nominee within weeks, setting in motion a process that could allow confirmation of a new justice by early August. Trump already has a list of 25 candidates — 24 judges and Utah Sen. Mike Lee — from which the White House has previously said he would choose a nominee.

Prominent on that list are Judges Thomas Hardiman of Pennsylvania and William Pryor of Alabama, seriously considered for the seat eventually filled by Justice Neil Gorsuch, and Judge Brett Kavanaugh, who serves on the federal appeals court in Washington, DC.

Kavanaugh is a longtime Washington insider, having served as a law clerk to Kennedy and then as a key member of independent counsel Kenneth Starr’s team that produced the report that served as the basis for President Bill Clinton’s impeachment. In October, Kavanaugh dissented when his court ruled that an undocumented teen in federal custody should be able to obtain an abortion immediately.

Abortion is likely to be one of the flash points in the nomination fight. Kennedy has mainly supported abortion rights in his time on the court, and Trump has made clear he would try to choose justices who want to overturn the landmark abortion rights case of Roe v. Wade. Such a dramatic step may not be immediately likely, but a more conservative court might be more willing to sustain abortion restrictions.

Interest groups across the political spectrum are expected to mobilize to support and fight the nomination because it is so likely to push the court to the right.

Kennedy is bailing on July 31st. Rush Limbaugh just opined the Democrats will try Trump from nominating someone because he’s under investigation and might (they think) be impeached. They’re desperate, and I hope they don’t succeed in delaying the nomination. Another Conservative would lock up the Supreme Court for Conservatives for years.

Holy shit! I just commented about Kennedy in another post. Rush Limbaugh
theorized that Kennedy siding with the 4 solid conservatives may be due to
the lower court rulings against President Trump may have swayed him. Rush
stated that Kennedy may have been fed up with liberal lower court judges
    exceeding their constitutional authority.

Kennedy has always been a 50-50 swing vote. If President Trump replaces
him with a solid constitutionalist, this is going to be a big deal. This will result in
a SOLID 5-4 conservative majority! If the Jurassic leftist Ruth Buzzy goes tits
up (which is highly likely in the next 2 years,) this could result in a 6-9 conservative
majority. Should another liberal justice die or retire in the next 2 or 6 years (if
Trump is elected,) the socialist Democrats are going to lose in a way that
will make the latest SCOTUS union decision look like chump change!

Democrats govern against the will of the American people. Half or more of
their victories in the last several decades have been the result of judicial
activism. A 7-2 constitutionalist majority on the Supreme Court may be
within our grasp. A hat tip to Mitch McConnell for delaying Scalia’s
replacement and Anthony Kennedy are in order. Unless there are health
issues that we do not know about, Kennedy could have held out until
2020 in order to “maintain a balance.” Kennedy has been a pain in the
ass for decades. When he exits the stage under a Republican president,
this tells me that he may have finally seen the light!

None of these events would have come to pass if the communist lesbian
in the Mao Jacket had been elected.

  3. Leonard Jones says:

Oops, I meant a 6-3 majority! Although I am not highly educated, I took an IQ
test at age 14. While I was never given a raw number, I was placed in the upper
2 percent. You might say that I am the original high potential underachiever long
before Bart Simpson arrived on the scene. I am now officially giving up on my
quest to get ahead of President Trump.

When he said that there would be so much winning, we would get sick of winning,
I dismissed it as a trite campaign slogan. Far from being sick, I am as happy as
a pig wallowing in a pile of shit! The Democrat party is in complete meltdown
and is descending towards complete psychosis. I will never get tired of winning
so long as it results in the destruction of the party of socialism!
