A popular high school social studies teacher in New Jersey was suspended after telling students to remember him if he died protecting them during a school shooting, according to a report Monday.

Timothy Locke, 59, an AP World History teacher at Cherry Hill High School East was put on administrative leave Thursday after making controversial comments about the Parkland massacre, reported The high school teacher caused a female student to get upset after bringing up the aftermath from the horrific shooting spree led by 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz who killed 17 students and faculty at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., Feb. 14.

“He said the chances of East being shot up were high,” said Gabriel Ritter, 17, alleging that Locke made these comments during class. Ritter, a senior at the school, added that he went to the principal’s office with the unnamed female student to voice their apprehensions over Locke’s statements. Locke claimed later that day he was also called to the principal’s office to have his bag searched and undergo a physical and psychiatric evaluation. He was then placed on administrative leave.

“He made some kind of remark from what I understand, tongue in cheek, that if this ever happens here, ‘I have your back. I’ll protect you.’ And something to the extent of, ‘If I do that, I want you guys to erect a memorial for me in front of the building,’ in jest,” said Eric Ascalon, whose son was a previous student of Locke. Ascalon added that other parents are outraged the teacher was fired over the remarks, reported CBS News.

Locke also discussed his hesitations over lack of armed guards at the high school since the “campus police” are not armed. The high school teacher previously referenced a 2000 New York Times article that stressed similarities between Cherry Hill High School East and Columbine due to the suburban location, top athletes, and students.

“The bottom line is that I was very concerned about the security at my school,” said Locke. “I was adamantly concerned with the welfare of my students.”

Following Locke’s suspension, students started a protest against the administration Monday morning. A video shows the Cherry Hill East administration telling students that if they keep protesting they will get suspended nor be allowed to go to prom, reported the PhillyVoice.

Two students also started a petition, garnishing more than 500+ signatures. They called the administration suspending Locke “an injustice.”

    New “Faggot” New Jersey. I’m not surprised. NJ was a decent state in the 1950’s when I grew up there. But then the New York City Liberals started to spread out. New Jersey & Connecticut were over a few years contaminated with the “Oy Vey” Commie shit heads.

    Sometimes I feel like it doesn’t matter what any of us or President Trump does to try and save this country. When I read about idiots like this, and how feeble minded and overly sensitive they are and desperately wanting someway to become a victim…I think it’s already too late for us. That America’s best days are behind us and all we can do is serve as a reminder…as a lesson for the next experiment of freedom undertaken by a society.
    We really MUST rid this country of liberals. Rid our schools system of liberals, and initiate a govt House of un-American activities of the likes that would make McCathy green with envy.

    Radical surgery is needed at this point. The cancer has spread too far too fast. We need to amputate and eradicate it and quickly…it may already be too late…but we should try.

    I saw this story elsewhere and in that version of events, it was reported that the teacher was also a combat vet who had served in either Iraq or Afghanistan or both. Obviously, he would have a higher ability to protect his students than most teachers, having some situation awareness and combat skills. Smart move school district. The kind of guy who ought to be carrying a weapon for his school.

    I’m with dekare, our country is in dire straits and needs massive, immediate surgery.

    It’s too bad we have a combat vet teacher, who’s wasting his and everyone else’s time teaching “social studies,” though. He should be teaching History, and another class in Civics. Students should learn about the fall of Rome, how & why Socrates drank hemlock, the dangers of letting barbarians within the gates, and the facts about the death toll due to Socialism.

    It goes without saying that teachers should have the option of being armed; when it comes to combat vets, it should be encouraged. I know we can’t say it aloud, but (shhhhh…) look at Israel, where they had one or two school shootings; now they have none, because it’s the teachers carrying the combat rifles, not loonytunes kids or muslim terrorists. (I’ll bet those Israeli teachers have real “assault rifles,” too.)

    Our biggest problem in America though- isn’t nut cases shooting up schools. It’s the fact that we’re allowing millions of non-Americans to come here and stay. Some of those people actually hate us, hate our culture and our way of life, and want to change it to their own way; we let them in regardless. The idea seems to be that once they’re here, they’ll blend right in, through the “melting-pot” effect of their mere presence in this country.

    We do not have, and never have had, any “magic dirt” that makes people American just be being here. We once had a shared culture, because of our shared background; those of us who actually are Americans are the “posterity” of our forefathers who founded this once-great nation. It’s in the Preamble to the Constitution:

    “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

    Somali moslem tribespeople of African descent are not now, and never will be, the posterity of our forefathers. Few of them will ever even be able to understand what that means, and it’s a fool’s errand to pretend otherwise. The same goes for the descendants of Aztecs and Mayans and everyone else who isn’t part of our ancestry.

    We are at a fork in the road. One fork is narrow, rocky, steep and difficult, and would surely cause many deaths were we to attempt it; the other fork is broad, green and easy to follow. Unfortunately the broad fork leads to the death of our culture and our country- and, incidentally, white people.

    I am almost certain which fork our countrymen will take. I only wish there was something that could be done about that- but long ago I found that facts, reason and logic will not prevail over the feelz.
