A Netflix movie featuring Will Smith.

The first trailer for Netflix’s upcoming film “Bright” was released late Thursday, and it looks like it’ll be combining fans of police films and sci-fi films.

The plot of the highly-anticipated movie, according to IMDB, is, “Set in a world where mystical creatures live side by side with humans. A human cop is forced to work with an Orc to find a weapon everyone is prepared to kill for.”

The film stars legendary actor Will Smith, who has previously starred in a similar genre film “Hancock,” and rising acting star Joel Edgerton, who starred in “The Great Gatsby” and “Zero Dark Thirty.”

The trailer really does appear to be a crossover between a gritty police drama, such as “Training Day,” and a darker superhero movie.

It is currently scheduled to be released December 22 on Netflix.

It’s also worth noting that Netflix continues to create impressive original content, and is really starting to compete with any more studio when it comes to its ability to produce high-end television and movies.

I have Netflix, but I’ll probably pass on this one because of Will Smith. Besides being a general asshole he’s also a marginal, one dimensional actor like Robert De Niro. Always portraying the characters the same way. De Niro the tough guy and Smith the smartass. As much as I like “Independence Day”, Will Smith really detracted from the roll of the fighter pilot with his wise cracking, mugging and hamming it up.

Nope. No money for Hollyweird. Especially for Smith. My Hollyweirdwood ban is permanent.
