Remember when taxing sugary drinks was supposed to be because of the sugar and the ill effect it has on health?

Diet drinks have no sugar.

This was done to placate the ground apes and other minorities who feel singled out because white people are primary diet drink buyers.

Yeah. That’s the logic we’re supposed to believe.

And never mind the fact the mayor is trying to deflect attention from the accusations he solicited sex from four men and abused young boys in the 80s.

Mayor Ed Murray’s soda-tax legislation led to criticism it was unfair because white and affluent people tend to drink more diet drinks. The mayor’s revised proposal lowers the tax rate slightly and adds diet soda.

The changes were recommendations that emerged when staff from the mayor’s office and the office of Councilmember Tim Burgess studied disparate impacts the tax could have on people with low incomes and on people of color, according to Murray.

That work involved conversations with community advocates, public-health professionals and business owners, according to the mayor. After Murray’s initial announcement, some suggested the exclusion of beverages with artificial sweeteners would be unfair because affluent white people tend to consume more diet drinks.

The tax, which is meant to fund education for minorities (which is a hysterical and yet frightening thing to focus on), is undergoing some changes. At first, the tax was to make distributors of sugary drinks pay 2 cents per ounce with the mayor claiming it would bring in $16 million.

The mayor changed his tax when his staff told him that it would disproportionately affect minorities, who apparently have higher soda consumption rates than white people.

The tax has now become an “issue of equality” as far as the mayor is concerned because “upper middle-class white people” who consume diet drinks more frequently must be taxed to fight “white privileged institutionalized racism”, according to Reason. It looks like Murray has been taking a liberal arts humanities course.

Murray is currently facing accusations from four men that he paid for sex that he ultimately sexually abused back in the 80s when they were young boys. This is no doubt a distraction and a painful attempt to virtue signal. One of the men claims Murray “raped and molested him” over a few years beginning in ’86 when the man was 15-years-old.

Speaking of “diet shit”, here’s my recent experience with the “taxing” subject.

This asshole commie yogurt maker (http://www.stonyfield.com/) made some really nice appealing chocolate yogurt and I use to buy small (about 4 oz.) tubs of it for about $1 each to have as my desert. Recently the “tubs” had a makeover but I figured it was just cosmetic.

Wrong! The amount in the “new” tub was about 3.2 oz. the price the same AND it boasted NO SUGAR. I gave one a try and spit out the first spoonful. It tasted like liquid cardboard. I called the 800 number on the tub and explained my problem to a young lady. Her stock answer was: The smaller amount in the tub and the fact it had NO SUGAR was for my maintaining a healthy diet.

My short reply was: “At 75 years of age the last think I think about is eating an overpriced product that tastes like week old dog feces.” I said in order not to waste the 5 tubs I’d purchased I bought a 5 pound bag of cane sugar and was adding two heaping tablespoons of it the each tub. And I wasn’t going to waste any more money on Stoney Field crap.

Her reply: “Can we send you some coupons for our product?

My reply: “Grind the coupons up and add them to your yogurt.”

Seattle should go talk to the arch conservative city of Philadelphia where everybody just quit buying soda pop in the city and went elsewhere so they could avoid the added cost of this stupid tax. They’ve lost a bunch of revenue because nobody buys that crap in Philly anymore. Blame the Russian hackers.
